COE Emeritus Status
COE Emeritus status is available to certificants who have fully retired from the field of ophthalmology and wish to maintain recognition of their credential without the ongoing requirements of active certification.
To request COE Emeritus status, individuals must:
Declare retirement, confirming they are no longer employed in the field of ophthalmology.
Understand that they are exempt from all continuing education (CE) and recertification requirements once Emeritus status is granted.
Be aware that they may return to active COE status at any time by meeting the current recertification requirements, should they choose to re-enter the profession.
COE Emeritus status allows retired certificants to remain connected to the credential they earned, while eliminating the maintenance responsibilities required in active practice
