My career in healthcare started at age 23, just out of college, working for Jonas Salk. Yeah, the polio virus guy. His discovery of a vaccine ended the terror of polio and generated funding that led to The Salk Institute for Biological Studies, where I eventually pivoted from research to the business side of healthcare.
