ASCRS and Medical Community Advocacy Ensures CMS Will Not Penalize Physicians Whose PQRS Reporting is Impacted by ICD-10 Code
Late this afternoon, CMS announced that due to updates to ICD-10 codes that took effect October 1, 2016, any provider that fails to satisfactorily report for CY 2016 solely as a result of the impact of ICD-10 code updates on quality data reported for the 4th quarter of CY 2016 will not receive a negative payment adjustment in 2018. In addition, CMS announced providers impacted by this issue will not receive the automatic negative payment adjustment for the Value Modifier for failing to meet PQRS.
This announcement comes as a direct result of ASCRS advocacy. ASCRS was the first organization to bring this issue to the attention of the American Medical Association, and we worked together to ensure CMS would address the issue.
