Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate that they have at least three years of medical practice management, one of which must be in ophthalmic administration, before taking the COE examination. In addition to demonstrating the necessary work experience and passing the certification examination, all applicants must verify compliance with a professional code of ethics and meet the continuing education requirements specified for all COEs. Individuals meeting all these requirements and paying the appropriate fees are eligible for certification and may use the designation COE after their name.
