Proffitt Eye Center was formed in 1977 when Robert S. Proffitt, M.D., joined his father in the Central Nebraska ophthalmology practice he founded in 1954.  After Dr. J.A. Profitt retired in 1999, Dr. Proffitt carried on the tradition of restoring vision and building patient trust.

In addition to Dr. Proffitt, we have nine staff members but 7.19 FTE, which allows our practice to operate efficiently while providing optimum coverage when our physician is in the office.  Each plays an active role in chart audits that are performed during our bi-monthly staff meetings in an effort to continually review internal controls and assure they’re implemented consistently.

Our compliance plan is a living document that’s updated continually.  One of our staff’s main strengths is great communication.  As issues arise, ideas for improving processes are brought forward for discussion, and implemented.  The involvement of our physician is vital to the success of our compliance program.

We are blessed with experienced and certified technical staff members who obtain their continuing education credits through the annual ASOA/ASCRS Congress.  Each member of our well-trained billing staff has more than a decade of ophthalmology experience and takes great pride in keeping informed of regulation changes to assure our office meets new requirements.

Our administrator is a COE who’s diligent about cross training to assure compliance even when staff members fill in for others.
